LONTRA INDUSTRIES / PRIVACY

Privacy policy.

Effective date: October 11, 2026. Updated October 18, 2026.

Who is responsible

Lontra Industries operates Lontra Studios. Mailing address: PO Box 1939, Inuvik, NT, X0E 0T0. Privacy contact: paul@lontraindustries.ca.

What you can sign up for

The required, unchecked checkbox asks for permission to send the Ring Legacy release announcement. A separate, optional, unchecked checkbox asks for permission to send marketing emails about future Lontra Studios games, including announcements and release news. You can choose the launch alert without choosing studio news. Accepting cookie preferences or reading this site does not subscribe you.

Information collected

We record your email address, which checkbox permissions you granted, their timestamps, and the wording version shown when you consented. A random token supports unsubscribe requests. A short-lived hash of a network identifier limits automated signup attempts. The hash includes a secret and a time window; the signup system does not store your raw IP address.

Use and service providers

We use your email only for the purposes you chose. Cloudflare hosts the site and subscriber database. Brevo is the planned email delivery service and receives subscriber details when we import a mailing list. These services may process data outside Canada. We do not sell the list. A future change in purpose or provider must be reflected in this policy and, where required, fresh consent.

Retention

Launch-only addresses are deleted 30 days after the launch announcement. If you separately opt in to studio news, we retain your address until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion.

Retention period for the minimum consent, unsubscribe, and suppression records needed to document a mailing: We keep minimum consent and withdrawal evidence while you remain subscribed, then for three years after you unsubscribe or are removed from the list. Expired evidence is deleted by a daily cleanup..

Consent and withdrawal evidence contains a keyed hash of your email rather than your plain email address. A keyed hash remains personal information. These records are kept separately from active mailing lists. They are not permission to contact someone who has unsubscribed. The same deletion and suppression practices must be applied to copies held by the email provider.

Withdraw consent, access, or correct information

Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link. We process withdrawal requests without delay and no later than 10 business days. You can also contact paul@lontraindustries.ca to unsubscribe, ask what information we hold, correct your address, or request deletion. Our website unsubscribe option withdraws both launch and studio-news consent. We may ask for information needed to verify that a request concerns your address. We respond to access requests within 30 days, subject to permitted legal extensions, and explain any information we must retain.

Storage and safeguards

The subscriber database is accessed server-side. Exporting the list requires a secret key. Exports are kept private, used only for the agreed mailing, and deleted after import or completion of the mailing. Cloudflare may process IP addresses, request headers and security logs under its service privacy terms; these hosting records are separate from our mailing list. If a breach occurs, we assess it and notify affected individuals and the appropriate regulator when required by law.

Cookies and local storage

Optional analytics and advertising are off. Font files are hosted with this site. A local preference remembers your cookie selection. Hosting security may process technical request information. See the Cookie Policy for storage details and Cloudflare security cookies.

Our TikTok publishing tool

Lontra Industries uses a desktop tool of its own to send short videos about its own products to its own TikTok account. When the holder of that TikTok account connects it, the tool reads the account's display name, so that we can see which account is connected, and receives access tokens that let it upload a video to that account's TikTok inbox as a draft. The video is published only by the account holder, inside the TikTok app. The tool does not read followers, messages, comments, videos or any other TikTok data, and it collects nothing about other TikTok users or about visitors to this site. The tokens are stored encrypted on our own computer and are not shared with anyone. The connection can be ended at any time in the TikTok app's settings (Manage app permissions). To have the stored tokens deleted, write to paul@lontraindustries.ca.

Our YouTube channel tools

Lontra Industries uses tools of its own to run its own YouTube channel, Lontra News: a small script and a scheduling tool that runs on our own computer. The holder of that channel connects it through Google sign-in and grants permission to upload and manage the channel's videos, to manage its comments, to view its YouTube Analytics reports and to view its account details. The tools use them only for our own channel: to upload our own finished videos at a set time with their title, description, tags, thumbnail and the altered or synthetic content label; to add them to our own playlists; and to read the channel's own videos, statistics, caption text and the comments posted on its videos, so that we can answer questions, hide spam and abuse, and learn which videos work. Replies are written by a person and posted by hand. Hiding a comment happens only after the channel owner approves it. The tools never touch any other channel, and never delete videos or change channel settings.

Comment text and public commenter names are stored on our own computer only as long as they are needed to answer or moderate them. YouTube data is not sold, not shared with anyone, not used for advertising and not used to train AI models. Lontra Industries' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The tool also follows the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. The access tokens are stored encrypted on our own computer. The channel holder can remove the access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. To have stored YouTube data deleted, write to paul@lontraindustries.ca.

Separate game policy

This policy concerns the studio website and mailing lists. Ring Legacy's separate game privacy policy describes the app's features and must match the released game.

Children

This mailing list is intended for people aged 13 or older who can understand the permission they are giving. We do not knowingly collect subscriber details from children under 13. A parent or guardian may contact us to request removal.
